FIANNA Fáil TD Timmy Dooley, is encouraging groups across the country to prepare their applications for grants under the new Sports Capital Programme.

“The €40 million announced for the 2014 sports capital programme will be of huge benefit to communities across the country and I know there are many group and clubs in Clare that are in need of funding for upgrade works under the scheme this year.  Whether it’s the installation of floodlights, new pitches, improved drainage, building sports halls or dressing rooms, the investment in local sports clubs is of huge benefit to communities and encourages more young people to be active.

Applications for the Sports Capital Programme will only be accepted online. You can register at www.sportscapitalprogramme.ie.   Applications will close on Friday, February 7.
